課程概述

The light microscopy is one of the most widely used tools in biology and physics. Recent advances in super-resolution light microscopy have brought the concept of nanoscale or sub-nanoscale optical resolution into reality. This course will first introduce the fundamental knowledge of optics. We will then cover the fundamentals of light microscopy, modern light microscopy, advanced fluorescence microscopy and super-resolution microscopy. Different super-resolution modalities will be detailed. We will also introduce emerging techniques such as correlative microscopy, label-free imaging, expansion microscopy, etc.

- To provide fundamental knowledge of optics, photonics, and light microscopy system.
- To help students develop physical understanding about the underlying principles of various optical and microscopic techniques in modern scientific endeavor.
- To motivate individuals into this exciting research field.
